A city at child-friendly heights with accessible heritage , with a 100% pedestrian historic center , dotted with numerous parks and gardens and 30 minutes from the sea and the hinterland.

Find here all our suggestions for family discoveries, whether in the city, at the seaside or in the countryside.

  • Talking about tickets. The official price for a ticket to Huangshan is 190 yuan each. If you’re driving yourself, there are free parking spots available at the parking lot. But if it’s crowded, you might need to use other paid parking areas, which usually cost around 30 yuan for all-day parking. Once you’re parked, you’ll need to take a bus to get to Huangshan mountain entrance. This means there’s a short distance between the parking lot and the mountain entrance, so you’ll need to take a bus for a few minutes. The bus ticket costs 19 yuan.

  • Talking about the route. Starting from the south gate is a good idea. Especially for older folks and kids, it’s suggested to take the cable car to save energy. The cable car costs 80 yuan. It’s really exciting and you’ll feel like you’re soaring hundreds of meters up. The views are stunning, you can even see clouds below you. It’s important to travel in pairs for safety. Along the way, you’ll pass by many attractions like Shixing Peak, the North Sea, Cool Platform, Stone-Monkeys watching the sea, Lion Peak, Paiyunlou, Feilai stone, Bright Top, Ao Fish Peak, Lotus Peak, and Welcoming Pine. If you’re still feeling strong, you can walk down the mountain and see Banshan Temple and Ciguang Pavilion before reaching the bottom. But if you’re tired, there’s a cable car near the Welcoming Pine.

  • Talking about the scenery. When we went there in winter, we saw squirrels, pine trees, a sea of clouds, freezing fog, and something called the Tyndall effect, where sunlight and freezing fog mix together, creating a stunning visual effect. Standing on the highest peak was really surprising.
